Sakura – almost there

One of the things I was looking most forward to is approaching its peak: the cherry blossom. At the moment it is about 50-70%. The whole event reminds me a bit of the autumn colors in Nova Scotia. It lasts about a week or two and you have to find the perfect time slot to view it in all its beauty. There is a forecast or sakura watch. However I find there is one difference to the autumn colors in Nova Scotia: the locals here are as crazy about it as the tourists. In fact when I was in Kamakura today I spotted very few non-asian looking people.
Yesterday I saw an older couple, maybe in their late sixties. The man was taking photos of the cherry blossoms like he had never seen something that beautiful before. I really like how people here have a great appreciation for nature and other beautiful things. Even if you have seen it so many times, it is still worth having a look and taking some photos.
Enjoy the pictures. They were taken in Kamakura and around the area where I live. I will post more as the sakura, i.e. the cherry blossom reaches its peak.
